What is Mediterranean cooking?
Andies has been serving a Mediterranean delight since 1975. It’s one of the most flavorful, fresh, and varied cuisines in the culinary canon- not to mention one of the most healthful styles of eating in existence. It’s a coastal cuisine and truly a way of life.
Since day one Andies Restaurant has been committed to serving only heart-healthy and delicious seasonal Mediterranean food, with contemporary, most favorable and freshest ingredients. At Andies Restaurant you will find that Chef Andie is committed in bringing more vegetarian, vegan and gluten free recipes.
Bringing Mediterranean Home
Andie Tamras, owner/chef has travelled extensively to various parts of Mediterranean, bringing back the most popular and delectable dishes that reflect the flavors and traditions for each region. Chef Andie will introduce you to the full spectrum of Mediterranean fare, from street food to dishes worthy of a fine dining experience. Hearty healthy dishes from Tunisia and Morocco, such as Seafood Tagine and Bistila , or our award winning recipe the all vegetarian and vegan Moroccan eggplant.
All recipes are supervised and executed by Andie and the sous chef, from dips, roasting, baking and all the desserts. Hearty pasta dishes are all homemade that also changes according to the season, such as Pumpkin Ravioli served in fall and winter and Artichoke and Spinach Ravioli served in summer and spring season.
Serving from the Heart
When dining with us, you will come to find that our servers want to exceed our guest’s expectations and provide a warm, friendly and inviting service. Our servers are hand selected, all have one gift and this gift is to serve from their heart.
Our Philosophy is to cook locally and seasonally. We use produce from local farmers in the Midwest, when and where it is available. Be sure to check out our Seasonal Menu page for fresh specials.
Every year in late March, we get our hands dirty by planting vegetables like tomatoes, eggplant, green beans, peppers, cauliflower and asparagus. We also grow herbs, such as basil, thyme, dill, cilantro, tarragon and mint. We are mindful of keeping these ingredients in their purest form as and strive to cook healthfully with them.
Andies has been a neighborhood favorite for over thirty years thanks to the support of our Andersonville neighbors. In the summer, we boast great outdoor seating and the winter is perfect for warming up by our fireplace.
As always, we can accommodate any special requests for any order. Try some of our most popular entrees like grass feed Lamb osso bocco, Fresh blackened Salmon and organic herbed Greek chicken, Tunisian style chicken and the best Gyros in town. We also feature a vegetarian-vegan menu. Most popular the Moroccan eggplant, curried fresh vegetable over couscous, spinach & feta pie or our most popular dish, the vegetarian combination platter. Be sure to ask about our gluten free menu too.
Andies gives back to the local community? We contribute to Care for Real, an Uptown food kitchen, Sarah's Circle which assist women in need of shelter, as well as Dining Out for Life, an annual dining fundraising event for AIDS service organizations. Be sure to follow us on our social channels to stay up to date on all charitable events.
We look forward to seating you!
